Bio:
Born In Korea, Eunhee Laird started painting in elementary school. Her talent was recognized at an early age and she was selected to attend Yewon School of the Arts, Seoul Korea, where she studied with renowned sculptor Chun Jun. Her youth was not easy and she struck out on her own at the age of 16. For the next 21 years Eunhee rarely touched a brush. She spent her young adult years working as a manager for musicians and starting a family. She married Michael in 1987 and moved to the United States. The urge to use her God given talent manifested itself in many ways since their wedding. She worked at an Arts and Crafts shop in New Jersey where she learned a variety of artistic techniques and began the slow process of creativity. In 1991, Eunhee moved to Oahu, Hawaii and began to search for meaning in her life. God answered her desire for meaning in two ways. First, he gave her a blessed gift; her son, Clayton and second gave her the need to communicate the peace and awe that she felt from the lush beauty around her. In 1999 Eunhee acted on her urge to create and began her painting again in earnest. Her deep rich textures and variety of colors stem from her full life. The various grays and browns within her work come from her longing gaze as a child into the treeless hillsides of Korea. Her lush greens and deep rich blues are reminiscent of the majesty that inhabits the mountains, falls and valleys of Oahu. It is this mix of tradition, both from her native Korean and adopted Hawaiian cultures, and striving to live in today's modern society that gives Eunhee's work vibrancy and life and allows her to awaken everyday to the colors of life that God has given us all. It is her calling and privilege to share these colors of everyday life with you.

Eunhee currently studies with Helen DeRamus of Marietta, GA. Her work has been recognized with various awards including the award for Best Use of Color from the DeRamus Studio Exhibition, an Honorable Mention from the Fine Art Society of Kennessaw, GA, inclusion into five members' exhibits at Art Station, Stone Mountain, GA, the Callenwolde Gift Shop Holiday Exhibition 2000 and Summer Exhibition 2001, the 2000 North Fulton Regional Art Exhibition, Celebrate the Arts at Callaway 2001, and was the recipient of the Secretary of Defense National Art Award, Seoul Korea, and was selected as one of the featured artists for Celebrate the Arts 2001. She lives in Powder Springs, GA with her husband Michael, her son Clayton and their dog, Lanai.
